All Sizes Of Eggs

Our chickens finally are starting to lay eggs, its funny on the size range. Today is a rainy cold day here on the homestead so i am doing catch up on the blog.

Almost Snake Bit

Here is the water heater that i installed and plumbed in, yay we now have hot water at the faucets!

Last night i went out to check on the water heater and almost got snake bit, i didn't see the mojave and he didn't rattle at me i just caught it out of the corner of my eye as he coiled up and started to strike at me, i jumped back just as he struck, it was a very close call, it scared me to death, that was the closet call i have had here to date. Needless to say i killed him with a shovel.

Halloween

Here is a picture of Jack already for halloween, he got to go trick or treating in Elfrida and Double Adobe, he got lots of candy, sugar rush lol.

We butchered two of our roosters today, it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be, Saturday we are having chicken and dumplings for supper, yummmmm :)

House Work

Getting real close on being sealed up for winter, got almost all the insulation in the walls, did bump out closets for all three bedrooms, sure gave us a lot more room in our small home and put up a temp ceiling of metal studs and 4x8 sheets of foam board, we plan on putting in a loft this spring is why the ceiling isn't permanent.

First loaf of bread i ever made from scratch, It was good!

Ceiling an Walls, lot of work for a ceiling that gets replaced in spring

  Closet Bump out, the closets are 4 x 8 x 8
